On February the 3rd we had a special day at our workshop. A TV crew was here! The show “Hecho en Castilla y León” (Made in Castilla y León) on RTVCYL visited us and learned about our bridal dresses making process.
The taping started at 9 a.m.. I was kind of nervous, I won’t deny that 🙂 We started at my study where I told them about inspiration, trends and all the things involved in the creative process of the different collections we’re preparing for 2017: VILLAIS, CALA and COSMO (yes, they got a sneak peak of our secret work in progress).
We then visited the workshop to see the place where we actually make the dresses. Our pattern maker and seamstresses taught them how fabrics are cut, pressed and all final details are prepared by hand. My mother (Chelo) and brother (José) were there with us. She is quite an example for us… She’s been sewing for 40 years now and keeps going! She is tireless, creative and has brimming imagination. She’s the voice of experience. You’ll see that on the report.
At the workshop my brother’s (José) turn came. After my father retired he’s in charge of taking the Villais’ dresses to their final destination all around the world. And, girl, does he do his job! You just check all the countries our dresses go to!
We then went to our store in Valladolid where my sister Chelo was waiting for us. She described how it is to have a direct contact with all the brides to be and their companions and what their needs and concerns are.
It was such an honor to show them about our craft from their conception, making process to selling them at our store. Thanks a lot for having us on your show! You’ll soon get to watch it. We’ll let you know about it on ourFacebook and Twitter profiles. XOXO
