There are so many things to mention about Balenciaga that I can’t find the words to express my deep admiration for him. Everything was already said by Coco Channel: “Balenciaga is a couturier in the truest sense of the word. Only he is capable of cutting material, assembling a creation, and sewing it by hand. The others are simply fashion designers.” He is the example to follow. He is one of the most renowned and influential couturiers of the 20th century.
He was extremely perfectionist; there weren’t any secrets for him in the sewing techniques. His models leave you speechless: innovative, daring, formal, aesthetically wonderful, elegant…They are perfect!!
He mainly worked in Paris for more than three decades. His works made an impact in the world of fashion and became an unquestionable referent for trends, season after season.
I feel enormously proud of developing the same profession that the master defined as: “an architect for design, a sculptor for shape, a painter for colour, a musician for harmony, and a philosopher for temperance”.
P.S. If you visit the Museum of Balenciaga in Getaria, Guipuzcua, you’ll love it!
